Nicole, CMS ‘15: “CCC is my rock!”

Two short weeks ago, Nicole graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer High School with a huge smile on her face and a Regents Diploma in hand. Nicole worked hard to successfully complete her four years of high school, often coming back to the Graduate Support Program to receive tutoring, SAT prep and emotional support. “The past four years were very tough, but I knew I always had GSP to support me.”

Before her senior year, Nicole spent the summer volunteering at Mount Sinai West Hospital where she deepened her love for knowledge and commitment to helping others. She gained a new appreciation for doctors and nurses and how much work they dedicate to patients. Now, as Nicole prepares to start her new journey at College of Mount Saint Vincent, she reflects on how the opportunities she had in high school prepared her for college: “High school taught me patience, organization skills and how to stand up for myself. I am so excited to start this new journey, meet new friends and take classes that expose me to different ideas.”

Nicole is looking forward to exploring classes in Psychology, Sociology and perhaps even Business Administration. “I’m open to anything. I want to try everything.” Nicole fell in love with College Mount Saint Vincent the moment she visited. She was able to envision herself in the classes and participating in the various organizations they have to offer. When asked what she felt the key to her success was, she said: “I owe a lot of my success to the support I received in GSP. Without CCC I probably would not have graduated from a Catholic high school let along be going to college. I receive unconditional love and support here. CCC is my rock!” Nicole recognizes that CCC has and always will support her as she continue to reach her goals.

We are so proud of Nicole Polanco and cannot wait to see all that she will accomplish in College!
