Caroline Erisman named CCC's new Executive Director

January 18, 2017

Dear friends and members of the Cornelia Connelly Center community,

I am delighted to announce that Caroline Erisman, a highly regarded, experienced leader with a deep commitment to the education of young women, will become the new Executive Director of Cornelia Connelly Center in July 2017.

Most recently, Caroline was the Head of Dana Hall School in Massachusetts from 2008 to 2016. Her accomplishments there ranged from new program development, including a Girls Summer Leadership Program attended by several Connelly Middle School students, to substantial annual and capital fundraising success, supervision of major facilities improvements, and strategic planning and positioning. For a number of years, Caroline was a teacher and school administrator here in New York; she is a graduate of Wellesley College, Columbia University Teachers College, and NYU School of Law.

What impressed us even more than these achievements, however, was Caroline’s clear desire to devote her energy and experience to the mission of the Connelly Center: empowering underserved girls to realize their full potential.

Caroline has taken an interest in the Center since being introduced by a CCC trustee some years ago, and she has helped make it possible for two CCC graduates so far to attend Dana Hall with full scholarships. As our search got under way last fall, Caroline stood out, conveying a convincing passion to put her seasoned leadership skills to work for our community. She is eager to honor Holy Child traditions and has been inspired by the spirituality and educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly, sources of strength and joy in the life of the Center since its founding.

Finally, Caroline’s candidacy was supported by strong recommendations. One example: “…please know that you have in Caroline one of the most visionary leaders I have ever met, and one of the most caring people I have ever known…. she defines her success by the positive impact she has on the success of others: students, faculty, staff, alumni, the institution as a whole, and the purpose it serves.”

Fortunate as we feel to introduce Caroline, we know she has a hard act to follow! Heather Raftery, who is moving with her family to Massachusetts this summer, has been a superb leader of the Connelly Center, and we will celebrate her outstanding contributions in coming months.

We ask our wonderful community of students, families, faculty, alumnae, friends and supporters to join us in welcoming Caroline Erisman. Her warmth, energy and enthusiasm will speak for themselves as you get to know her. The Board looks forward to working in partnership with her, and you, to sustain the Connelly Center and help every young woman in our care grow to fulfill her dreams.
