15th Anniversary

Throughout our years, many generous benefactors have provided the support necessary for us to offer high quality education to children, infuse hope into an underserved community and ensure that our students achieve their fullest potential. We are grateful for their faithful partnership and invite others to visit and join our efforts. The life of the Center and the opportunities it opens for girls depend in large part on a growing base of supporters. If you would like to visit the school, please consider attending one of our informational Rise and Shine Breakfasts. If you would like to support the gift of education, may we suggest:

Gifts of Time

Volunteers and guest speakers open our students to new opportunities. Ways of helping include: tutoring; providing insights into careers; assisting in our library; contributing to computer, drama and music programs; visiting cultural institutions with students; sharing your culture or special experience; and helping to coach sports teams.

Gift of Goods

Boost Camp Holy Child with donations of sports, camping and kitchen equipment. Enliven recess in the school parking lot with such items as balls, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk and board games. Our library welcomes books, especially recent young adult non-fiction. New computers are currently a priority need.

Gifts to our Annual Fund

Consistent annual support is critical to our mission, particularly because our girls’ families, who live at or below the poverty threshold, can only pay a nominal tuition. Our fiscal year runs from September 1 – August 31 and all donations of cash or securities are fully tax-deductible. Planned Giving

The Center welcomes the opportunity to talk with you or your financial advisor about planned giving opportunities. A planned gift leaves a legacy that enables the Center to provide quality education for young women on the Lower East Side now and into the future. For more information about how to include the Center in your estate planning, contact our Development Office.

Miracle Day

Miracle Day is an annual one-day event when CIBC World Markets donate all fees and commissions generated to support children’s charities. Started in 1984, Miracle Day has raised over $80 million for organizations that are dedicated to the health, welfare and education of children in need.

This year, Miracle Day will be held on December 6, 2006.

You can help miracles happen on the Lower East Side by requesting that all of your trades be directed through CIBC World Markets on that day and identifying the Cornelia Connelly Center as the charity you wish to support.
